Yoga Clothes for Comfort, Functionality - and Let's Not Leave Out Fun!

Yoga clothes should be comfortable and functional. They should allow you to move freely and not distract you from your practice. They should feel good against your skin so they dont cause any irritation.

Ideally, the clothing should be absorbent so that it wicks sweat away from your body. There are few things that feel as uncomfortable as a sticky, clammy body that is moist from perspiration.

I also think they should be attractive and fun to wear. When I do yoga alone in my home, I am willing to wear an old tee shirt and sweats or baggy shorts. When I practice in a class, I am more discriminating in what I choose to wear.

I admit it. I work very hard to keep my body in shape, and when I am with others, I want to show off the efforts of my hard work. I usually choose form fitting pants and a fitted tee shirt. This allows me to see the outline of my body in the mirror so I can maintain good form, and it lets me move without having to fuss with my clothes. They are also flattering to my body, so when I wear them I feel good.

Here are some of the things that you should look for in yoga clothing so that they work well for you and make you feel good about yourself and your practice.

Yoga pants
There are many types of yoga pants. Some are long and go down to your ankles; others stop just below your knees. often they are relatively form fitting. These types of pants have the benefit of allowing your instructor to see your alignment so she can make any necessary adjustments to your form.

If you arent comfortable in pants that are so revealing, you might enjoy wearing loose, cotton trousers. They offer freedom of movement without being too tight.

Whatever pants you choose, make sure that you can bend and move freely in them. Also be sure that there are no bulky ties at the waist that might be uncomfortable when you are lying in a prone position.

Yoga Shorts
Yoga shorts are a very good choice if you practice Bikram or hot yoga, because the room is heated to such a high temperature. They are a good bet in the warm summer months when long pants might be too warm. They also help you more easily check the proper alignment of your lower body because you can see your knees and ankles.

The yoga shorts should be long enough to cover your derriere and they should not ride up. Form fitting shorts usually dont move too much, so they may be just right for you.

Yoga Tops
Yoga tops should allow you to move freely without having them fall in your face. Tee shirts should be short enough so that your lower body is not hidden, so you can more easily check your alignment. Some women like to wear sports bras (especially those who practice Bikram yoga). If you choose to wear one, make sure that it holds you securely and that nothing falls out when you are bending or stretching. You dont want to wear something that is going to cause you to worry about what you might be showing to the rest of the class.

Yoga tops come in many bright and attractive colors. You might also have fun wearing shirts with characters such as Yoga girl on them.

Yoga shoes
Most people do not wear shoes during their practice. However, they might be useful if you practice outside in a park, on a beach, or some place where you would not want to take off your shoes and socks. Yoga shoes look very similar to other athletic footwear, except that the soles allow for considerable flexibility in your foot and the tops of the shoes are very lightweight. Some popular brands include puma yoga shoes and Adidas shoes for yoga.

Jacket
Many people might not think that a jacket is an important part of yoga clothing, but I beg to disagree. I think it is absolutely critical to take a jacket with you to your yoga class. I have been in many classes where the temperature has been quite cool (some are downright freezing). While the temperature often doesnt matter too much while I am moving during the poses, it becomes quite a different story when the time comes to meditate.

I dont know about you, but I find it difficult if not impossible, to relax when I am cold. Bringing a jacket with you gives you an option of covering up during the relaxation period if you are feeling chilly. Feeling warm and comfortable allows you the pleasure of letting your body relax fully.

So yoga clothes should be functional, comfortable, and give you the freedom to totally enjoy your practice. Have fun with them and enjoy wearing the ones that make you feel good!

Ps3 Looks Weak In This Round Of The Console War

Lately it looks like everything is going wrong for Sony. The battery recall did a lot of damage to their reputation and their bank account. Now it looks like they are going to take another hit with the ps3.

This round of the console wars is going to be especially competitive with xbox 360 getting an early lead and Wii coming out with some very unique features. Compared to the competition the ps3 looks weak in just about every aspect. Sonys main problem is the price. They are copying Microsofts approach and releasing two versions of the ps3. The 20gb hard drive version will cost $499 and the 60gb will cost $599. I think its pretty obvious that most people wont be able to afford a $600 console around Christmas. Even if they decide to max out their credit cards they could get a Wii AND an xbox 360 for the price of a ps3.

Sonys next problem is the weak list of games available at release. Most gamers agree that the Wii launch lineup is much stronger and the xbox 360 has an impressive lead. The Wiis virtual console service gives it an extra edge over the competition. It will allow gamers to purchase many classic games and possibly original content.

Even if you decide to get a ps3 its going to be nearly impossible to find one before Christmas. According to most online sources only 400000 consoles will be available in the USA and 100000 in Japan. That basically means youre not getting one unless you pay double on ebay.

Judging by all the information available right now it looks like the main battle in this round of the console war will be between the Wii and the xbox 360. Hopefully, Sony will find some way to turn this around.

Video Game System Reviews - What's Hot for the Holidays

Shopping for video game systems this Christmas? You probably know of the popular gaming systems: the nintendo Wii, microsoft xbox, and Sony Playstation. So which is the right one for you (or your lucky kid)?

The hottest video game system this holiday season is undoubtedly the nintendo Wii. There are many stories surfacing that the Wii is sold out in a lot of stores locally. While it has been available since last year, this game system is experiencing major supply shortages because it is so popular. As the latest major new release, it's the most advanced and some would say there is no competition. At this time, you can still get a Wii online before the holidays. But don't wait as they're in dangerously low supply.

Another high in demand gaming system is the microsoft Xbox. Its versatility and enormous popularity makes it a great choice for a gift for kids, teens, and adults. With some accessories, it even doubles as a dvd player or music/karaoke player! add in the extensive selection of games and online multi-player gaming, and you have yourself a classic and robust game system.

Then there is the Sony Playstation 3. Popular among kids, the ps3 and ps2 have many family friendly games. Recently, Sony has released a more affordable version of its original Playstation 3 in time for the holidays. The bundled Spiderman movie pack offers a solid value as it includes the Spiderman game along with the more affordable version of ps3.

Finally, don't forget to pick up some games and accessories to complement your gifts. Whichever gaming system you choose, your gift recipient (or you) will be thrilled with any of these three video game systems.

The Golf Swing Versus Technology

What David says about clubs and balls is true, however sad that might be. Manufacturers and retailers will have us believe that we CAN buy a better game. We most probably can, within reason.

Technology has allowed manufacturers to produce more forgiving clubs and balls that travel further. The argument can be made that it will make the game more enjoyable, attract more people and all the rest of it.

The effect that distance has on courses and tournaments is a topic we might tackle at a later stage. We all know (and the manufactures do too) that distance sells.

Retailers (and manufactures, for that matter) can contribute with proper club fitting. Gone are the old days when the boys purchased individual clubs from various sources. Matching sets was unheard of. Computerized customization allows for differences in build, swing speed and level of skill.

With hybrid clubs, and sets, the death of the long iron was inevitable. When last did you see anybody swing a 1-iron?

It is noticeable that the professional golfers lean more towards so-called amateur equipment whereas the ammies in the old days yearned for a set of traditional forged blades. (I am still a sucker for those things!)

The bottom line is that if you cannot swing a club half-decently, and, as Mr. nicklaus puts it, propel the ball in a predominantly forward fashion, it might be a good idea to take up whatever else but golf.

I am a firm believer of proper ball striking. If you cannot make contact with the ball first, particularly with irons and hybrids, you will never control the ball, and that is what this game is about!

As much as technology allows for forgiveness on mishit shots, and compensates for not-so-pure ball striking, the fact remains that a fairly decent swing, based on basic principles, will improve your scores, enjoyment and, yes, all the rest of it. It will also hold up under pressure.

A good, solid swing should not be mistaken for a nice-looking swing. We have different physical attributes and natural abilities. The mere physics of this dictates that swings will differ from person to person.

Gary Player said a number of very clever things. One is that if it works, use it. That, to me, means that how my swing looks might be flattering, but it is the score that counts.

If you look at the truly fluent swings out there, ernie els and Vijay Singh, and compare that to Lee Trevino and Arnold Palmer (with all due respect), whose swing would you rather copy?

Yet at impact they are all the same: head behind the ball, hips out of the way, weight on the left foot. Good, solid fundamentals can never be replaced!

I have to impress on all golfers out there, current and aspiring, the proper use of the driving range. Just a few ideas:

Warm up properly Check the basics: grip, stance, posture, alignment, ball position Work on something specific as opposed to getting maximum distance out of your driver You cannot see yourself swing, so get help, a friend, video camera

If you are really serious, get yourself a forged blade 6-iron and an old persimmon driver. If you can hit a golf ball consistently with those two, you can hit anything!

It might take a little more than a simple golf swing to reduce my scores, but I am still a devoted follower of this weird game!

Thank you for bearing with me. This was my first effort I will try again!
